About us

We are Indonesian-Dutch couple, married in 2002, resident of Utrecht - The Netherlands, have one spoiled dog named Milo and one "gonna be spoiled" baby Isabelle. This webpage mainly is use to share our story and pictures to our family and friends. But of course we always welcome for new friends. The idea of this webpage is to share our story and pictures to our family and friends.

Since Ira's Dutch language is far from perfect and Dimitri's Indonesian language is even worse, we decided to use English as the main language in this blog, eventhough lately due to the laziness of Ira, Indonesian language seems to take over.

Please feel free to browse around and give us your comment.

Dedicated to my friend M.T.

(1 Korintus 13:1-5)

Business Trip to Poland

Hello all !

This is an update from me on this website, after some 'gentle' (ahum) persuasion of my darling wife ;) I have been to some different european cities in the past weeks and took some pictures, so its a good time to share some of those in here!

About 3 weeks ago, i was going to Poland for just 1 day. We were invited there to give a presentation about 1 of our projects. I have never been to Poland but i have heard lots of stories about how depressing it should look over there. I guess that was in the past, because it was very beautiful! Check out this picture of the centre:

Of course i was in the capital Warsaw, so i have no idea what the countryside looks like. There was 1 person with us, who had been to Warsaw 5 years ago, and he told us it was changes quite a lot in these years. So it seems that the integration of the European Union has done the city and the country a lot of good! Here are some more pictures of the buildings there:

Speed 3

SPEED 3!!!Coming out soon in the theater near you! Starring ; yours truly aka me and a nice bus driver!

Huehehehe just kidding.... no such movie but today I experienced it a bit how it feels to ride a speeding bus, all to my benefit.

Today I was waiting as usual for bus number 47 to Houten where I work. Houten is a small town close to Utrecht. Only about 15 minutes to reach with car, 30 minutes with bicycle and 45 minutes with bus.

Like I wrote before, this bus is only pass-by about once an hour so I can't afford to be late. I was at the bus stop at 11.10, the bus is scheduled to pass at 11.18 so I have plenty time. I saw the bus coming so I get my self ready i.e. took out my bus card, closed the book that I read while waiting, stand up from the metal bench. I stood up, waiving my bus card to sign the bus driver to stop. What happen? He just ignoring me.... I was frantically waiving my bus card again.... I don't want to wait for another hour at the bus stop... then the bus slowed down, I run to him but it seems the driver doesn't see me 'cos he start to move again I was thinking, "Ok that's it then.. I'm going to be late today."
Then all sudden my knight in rescue... another bus came (bus number 118) and stopped in front of me. The door opened and the nice bus driver said,"Kom maar. I ga voor jou de bus in halen" which is means something like "Hop in, I will catch to bus for you"

So I did. And he start to speed up. He even tried to call the bus #47 via bus telephone system but no answer. He buzzed the horn but bus #47 even more speeding up... And of course when you in hurry there is always things that slowing you down. In this case was a car drove by an old man so slowwwwwwwwwly. The car is in between my bus and bus # 47. At the next bus stop, bus #47 stopped to let one of the passenger out but because of the slow car in front of us, by the time we reach the bus stop, bus # 47 left already.... luckily, by the next turn, the car took right turn, while we went to left. Bus driver #118 said to me, if at the next bus stop we still can not catch up, then he can not do anything more because then he need to go to other direction. Bus #47 will go straight and bus #118 has to go to right. I said to him, thanks anyway for trying, I appreciate that. Then he said, don't lose hope yet..... we still can do it... and he start to speed again and honk the horn . He made hand signal gesturing that there's one passanger in here want to go to your bus. It was quite funny to watch.

At some point, I guess the bus driver #47 got the hand signal or getting fed up with the honking. He gaves signal back that he's going to stop at the next bus stop. Yippieee.... I won't be late after all. So at the next bus stop, both busses stopped. Guess what happened!? The door won't open... hehehehe I can't go out. After being busy with the door for like forever, finally it opens. I was afraid that the bus # 47 start to leave again. Happy ending... I arrived in office on time !!! Many many thanks to the nice bus driver!

And another good news, we planned to go for one week holiday in Italy in September. We found a nice appartment in Toscana for hire. We asked if we can bring Milo with us because I don't want to put him in dog hotel. The travel agent said she is going to ask to the owner if we allowed to bring Milo. And today she called and said ok!!! Yippieee... Milo mag mee..... So tonight we are going to bring Milo to the vet to check if he needs any neccesary vaccin or anything. Oh I'm so happy today!!! First the nice bus driver and now the telephone. I feel like I can smile like this the whole day... hehehe
