About us

We are Indonesian-Dutch couple, married in 2002, resident of Utrecht - The Netherlands, have one spoiled dog named Milo and one "gonna be spoiled" baby Isabelle. This webpage mainly is use to share our story and pictures to our family and friends. But of course we always welcome for new friends. The idea of this webpage is to share our story and pictures to our family and friends.

Since Ira's Dutch language is far from perfect and Dimitri's Indonesian language is even worse, we decided to use English as the main language in this blog, eventhough lately due to the laziness of Ira, Indonesian language seems to take over.

Please feel free to browse around and give us your comment.

Another earthquake??

I read in The Jakarta Post this morning that a moderate earthquake rocked the easternmost province of Papua on Tuesday.

Quote:

The magnitude-5.6 earthquake struck at 12:28 p.m. (10:28 a.m. Jakarta time) and was centered about 147 kilometers south of Jayapura, the capital of Papua province, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Jayapura is about 3,800 kilometers northeast of Jakarta and about 3,300 kilometers from Bantul, the area worst hit by a powerful magnitude-6.3 earthquake on Saturday that killed more than 5,400 people.

Indonesia is prone to seismic upheaval due to its location on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin. It has 179 volcanoes, the largest number in the world.

With help from Google, I found some other interesting pictures. Shows Indonesia's position, right in the middle of major tectonic plates in the world and in the middle the "Ring of Fire"

Merapi oh Merapi

Merapi volcano is located in central Java and has been erupting for 10,000 years.
Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia and has produced more pyroclastic flows than any other volcano in the world. Indonesia is near the "Ring of Fire" - the circle around the Pacific Ocean on which lie most of the world's active volcanoes above sea level.

Merapi volcano was born in period of late Pleistocene - Early Holocene. It is situated at the intersection between two main volcanic alignments Ungaran-Telomoyo - Merbabu - Merapi (N164E) and Lawu - Merapi -Sumbing-Sindoro-Slamet or between two main quartenary faults, Semarang fault (north south) and Solo fault (east west). Among them, Merapi volcano is the youngest one.

Merapi activity is characterized by a very frequent eruption ranging from 1 to 5 years of time duration, weak explosion, and low gas pressure. Eruption is usually accompanied by pyroclastic flows, or "awan panas" in local term or a familiar term "wedhus gembel".

Merapi's most destructive eruption in living memory was in 1930, when about 1,300 people were killed. In November 1994 it erupted without warning, killing more than 60 people. Four years later thousands were forced to flee their homes as it spewed ash and toxic gas. Merapi is one of some 500 volcanoes in Indonesia, at least 129 of which are considered active.

What's on my bag?

I got this baton from Since.

I have to say that I'm not a person that like to bring bag anywhere I go. Most of the time I just bring small wallet with me, sometimes I don't even bring wallet at all especially when I'm with Dimitri .

Dus, what's on by my bag of course depends on what is my activity on that certain moment. But since my activity is kinda monotonous (just go to work daily), the different are not that much. Let's begin....

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

At this moment, my bag's contains are:

1. Book, never go without it. Very useful when I have to wait for the bus. Also usefull to avoid people that like to talk to me on the bus stop or in the bus itself

2. Wallet, bank-card, money, photo of Dimitri etc

3. Bus schedule

4. Ipod, with all my favorites songs, Good companion while waiting for the bus and in the bus.

5. "Always", woman's sanitary napkins. Never know when it's going to happen, girls! Just be ready.

6. Strippenkaart, my bus card.

7. Oral B Dental Woodsticks. I have some gap between my teeths... always handy to have it.

8. My Red Cross box, filled with peppermint.

9. Scrunchies, to tied my hair up

10. Medicated Oil (minyak angin), for headache, stomache etc

11. Lipstick, I don't even know why I bring this since it rarely been use. But it small so never hurt to be ready.

12. Lipgloss, I used it more that lipstick.

13. Keys

14. Face paper, to refresh my face.

15. Mobile phone, never leave home without it.

16. Hair stick, same reason with scrunchies, to make a bun.

Ok, lets see, who haven't get this baton.... Lillian? Ria? Inot?
