About us
We are Indonesian-Dutch couple, married in 2002, resident of Utrecht - The Netherlands, have one spoiled dog named Milo and one "gonna be spoiled" baby Isabelle.
This webpage mainly is use to share our story and pictures to our family and friends. But of course we always welcome for new friends.
The idea of this webpage is to share our story and pictures to our family and friends.
Since Ira's Dutch language is far from perfect and Dimitri's Indonesian language is even worse, we decided to use English as the main language in this blog,
eventhough lately due to the laziness of Ira, Indonesian language seems to take over.
Please feel free to browse around and give us your comment.

Ming & Thijs
Last friday we were invited to a wedding party of another mixed couple, Hongkong - Netherland. I knew Lillian aka Ming for years, since 1999 when I still lived in Surabaya. I knew her from chat program "Paltalk". In Paltalk you can do karaoke or just listen to other people/song. Since we both like to sing and we have same kind taste of music, many times we were at the same chatroom.
Anyway, she came to Netherland last July to be with her fiance, Thijs. And friday, 16 September was their big day. It was a special and unique wedding, with chinese tea ceremony in the morning and european wedding in the afternoon.
While tea ceremony is held on Thijs's parent's house, the wedding ceremony is held on The Oranjerie of Vollenhoven's park, Zeist. It is a very beautiful old building that can be hired for all occasions, from receptions and parties, lunches, afternoon teas or dinners. According to their website the Oranjerie originates from 1805, the same time as Vollenhoven's park was designed.
After ceremony we went home for rest and back again to Bilthoven for wedding dinner in Heideberg Hotel. The foods are quite nice and we had a chance to meet most of Thijs family.
Here's some of the pictures:

'Allo 'Allo!
I love sit-com.... I can sit for hours watch Friends, Will & Grace, Just Shoot Me, Suddenly Susan etc.... Most of sit-coms that I watched are American's like most of the shows aired in Indonesia. Here in Netherlands we have more variety in shows, from countries in Europe. One of my favourite show here in Netherlands is British comedy 'Allo 'Allo! I know it's an oldies but I just discovered them few months ago in local channel rerun. I started to watch on season 3. I hope they re-rerun it again next year
Basically the plot is very simple and its being repeated in almost every single episode. It is either about the plans to smuggle two British pilots back to England or about the painting of The Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies by Van Clomp of about stealing invasion plan from the Germany.
The main character is Rene Artois, a cafe owner in a small who unwillingly involved with the French resistance. His personal life become complicated when Rene who is married to Edith, entertains in the cafe by singing (badly) also has a passionate affair with Yvette, a waitress at the cafe. Lots of scene developed from their constant attempts to steal a few precious moments alone, which they rarely achieve without being caught by Edith. Rene himself is the target of the attentions of the gay Lieutenant Gruber, Maria the other waitress, Mimi the waitress that replace Maria, Denise Laroque head of the communist resistance.
Other characters in the show include the fat German's colonel Von Strohm and his captain Hans Geering; Herr Flick the Gestapo; ice queen Helga, Herr Flick's right-hand-woman; Edith's mother Fanny Lafanne; Leclerc the pianoman in the cafe; Michele from the resistance; the British pilots and of course Officer Crabtree the Englishman that pretends to be French police officer.
The strength of this show is their method of dealing with language problems with all the nationality that involved, English/France/Germans/Italians. They all basically speak in English, of course. The French characters spoke their native tongue with pantomime-style exaggerated English with French accents, but when they spoke English they adopted exaggerated posh English accents. The English characters spoke English normally, but when they spoke French it was with a poor, almost incomprehensible cod French accent. This was for Crabtree, who strangulated English-French gave the show its most memorable catchphrase with his customary greeting 'Good Moaning'. The German characters spoke English with German accent when they supposedly speak their native language. To add more confusion, Italian character speak English with of course, Italian accent. My personal favourite is Crabtree
Lots of the lines are being repeated in every episode. These are some that I can remember:
From Michelle:
- 'Leesen verrry carefully, I weel zay zis only once...' (Listen very carefully, I will say this only once)
From Leclerc: From Rene:
- Youuuuuu, stuuuuupid woman
- Allo allo London. This is Nighthawk calling
From Crabtree: Good moaning (morning) Good lick (luck) I have a good nose (news) and a bad nose I was ticking with a Roman Catholic farter ( Talking to a Roman Catholic father) I was just pissing by... (passing) In my bog I have a kack (In my bag I have a cake)
Those lines never failed to make laugh

Long weekend in Makkum
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dim's parents on 2nd September, we (Dim, my brother inlaw Taco and his gf Beeuwke and I) made a surprise holiday for them. We booked a holiday house in Makkum, Friesland and spent long weekend there. We took days off since friday 2nd until monday 5th.
Makkum is a small fisherman village on the side of Ijsselmeer (hmmm... free translation would be Ijssel Lake ). It used to be fisherman village I guess, now it is more for tourist, for watersport, sailing etc.
We stayed at a visservilla in Beach Resort Makkum. We leaved Utrecht at about 10.00 am to Lelystad where Dim's parents live. Went to photographer to take some family potret, then had some lunch at the haven in Lelystad. Back to Dim's parents house to help them with last minutes packing. They didn't know of course that we plan this long weekend. Since June we told them only to keep this weekend free from all appointments. Anyway we were in Makkum at about 05.00 pm.
Here is the picture of the villa that we rent for the weekend. It is a very luxurius villa right on the side of the water with view to Ijsselmeer, it has 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, complete kitchen, bathroom with whirlpool, private sauna, fireplace, terras and deck for boat.... all you can think of on holiday house

Most of the time we were there, we just spent it by sitting on the terras, catching up what happen in the past time, watching people passing by with their boat.... dining out to the village, looking out the shops there.
I took some pictures with my mobile phone so the result is not quite clear but still ok. Check it out here. The rest of the pictures still on Dim's mobile and on the camera of Dim's parents. I'll do update on the pictures as soon I got them.
