About us

We are Indonesian-Dutch couple, married in 2002, resident of Utrecht - The Netherlands, have one spoiled dog named Milo and one "gonna be spoiled" baby Isabelle. This webpage mainly is use to share our story and pictures to our family and friends. But of course we always welcome for new friends. The idea of this webpage is to share our story and pictures to our family and friends.

Since Ira's Dutch language is far from perfect and Dimitri's Indonesian language is even worse, we decided to use English as the main language in this blog, eventhough lately due to the laziness of Ira, Indonesian language seems to take over.

Please feel free to browse around and give us your comment.

Plan and Go is suck!!!

I'm very busy lately at work, the software that we used to input data (Plan and Go!), planning the trucks and making invoices was not working for several days. For time being we have to do it in the old fashioned ways.... by hand....

Now we have the complete system back.... thank God!!! but still we have to catch up with the invoice etc. I'm responsible with the making of invoices and I'm about 1 month behind.... that's also because one of my colleague left so I have to take over her job too. I have to worked last saturday and it seems like I have to work again this weekend...

There goes my plan to scan all wedding pictures....

Today.... 5 years ago.... the very first time I start to chat with Dim... It's almost 6 pm, time for me to go home... I was online from office that time.... I was about to close ICUII when I got message from cute blonde guy asked me "How are you, where you came from routine"

Because I have to leave soon, we don't have much time to talk at all... so we just exchange ICQ number to keep in touch. He said take care and nice to meet you and I replied the same. And that's it!!! We never see each other online again for sometime..... I was totally forgotting him by then...

But then we renewed our introduction....and since then there are no days passed without us chatting..... until we met in real.... until we got enganged... until we got married.... we still chat, even now....

Thanks ICUII... thanks ICQ.....

Ik hou van jou, schatje.... happy 5 years anniversary of our first contact!!!

Kerja bakti

Just received from email our photo's from Hans's camera when we were helping Mark and Hesti... Hartelijk bedankt, Hans

Heavy raining is pouring right now... sky is so dark, no stars and moon to be seen. Unpredictable weather of Holland

Luckily, we had a very sunny morning and afternoon. Weather has been very nice then. Temperature was about 20, quite warm to walk around without jacket actually but I don't want to take any chance. I'm ready with jacket!!! just in case...

It's been a lonely week for Milo because we were almost never home the past week... busy with working and helping Hesti with moving out. Milo deserves some fun so we went to the dog's park close to our house, brought his favorite ball and throwing device. And of course the digicam... my principe is never out on a sunny day without the cam
Thanks to timer, we can made some pictures with two of us together....

After that we went home, I did some gardening and Dimitri slept on his favorite spot in the garden on his hangmat... What a perfect sunday...

Since thursday night we were helping our friends Mark and Hesti moving out. Like us, they are also Dutch - Indonesian mixed couple. They used to live in De Bilt, small town close to Utrecht... about 10 km I guess. They are now moving to Utrecht, same city where I live, in fact we lived very close to each other now, the distance is about 2 km.

Thursday and Friday night after working hours we went there to helping with painting the walls. That's Dim's speciality Unlike in Indonesia when we can just pay people to do that, in here we have to do stuff by our self. Reminds me, two years ago when we moved out from Arnhem to Utrecht. Took us about 1,5 months to clean and repaint the house and up till now it still doesn't finish... Talk about lazyness...

Anyway, yesterday is the moving day and we promised to help.... and guess what! We woke up at 11 am... hehehe After showered, breakfast, doing groceries etc etc, we went to their new appartment. The appartment is located in the area called Kanaleneiland.... in 4th floor!!! and there is no lift!!!
But promise is a promise....

Here's some of the pictures that I managed to capture:

Complete pictures can be seen on Mark & Hesti weblog's www.mark-hesti.tk

Yesterday I did my first call to a customer... hurraayyyy... hehehehe... I know... I know... sounds so unimportant but it's a big deal to me... I've been working here for almost 1,5 years, for the first few months I don't even answer the phones... I know my limit.... so to deliberately calling a customer like what I did tyesterday was a really big step for me...

When I got this job on December 2003, I was still sit in Dutch language course. I told my boss, I won't pick up the phone... not just yet...not until I feel ready... of course in reality you can't just easily avoiding the calls, especially when no one or everyone already busy answering other call. I did picked up the phone but I try to make it limited only from people inside the company i.e. the truck drivers. (Thank God for ID Callers ) I don't have the nerve yet to talk to strangers... it's different when you receiving call from someone you knew. In my feeling, it doesn't really matter when I make mistakes in grammar... I knew the person so I don't really feel ashamed of... they knew that I just been 2,5 years in Holland

Well, anyway... by the time goes by, I answered more and more calls each day, also call from customer. The thing that I have noticed when answering the phones, I have a "thing" with person's name or places... I always heard it wrongly... hehehe and when the customer asked something and need to be called back, I always try to delegated it to one of on my colleague... So I don't have to call them back my self... and it always works!!!

So, I'm proudly to say... yesterday I did the call back my self... and it when perfectly... Well not perfect "perfect", but perfect enough that they understand what I said and doesn't ask me to repeat my self...

Zo.. goed gedaan, Ira!

Illegal Alien

Here in the Netherlands we have strict rules and procedures for people that want to move here from countries outside of the EU, like Ira. In our case it meant several interviews, lots of paperwork, translation and legalisation of official documents, ect, ect., but most of all waiting. We've been through the whole process ofcourse. Anyway, this process took about 5 months i guess (Which was fast by the way!)

This should be standard procedure, but now it seems that there is a special 'short-cut' ... just before Ira came here, our Prince Willem-Alexander wanted to marry Maxima Zorreguieta from Argentina. It took her exactly 8 days for her to get the official status! Some newspapers are now claiming that she's an illegal alien because they did not follow the right procedure

She has made a good deal .. she scored a prince, switched nationality in 8 days and as a welcome present she receives a yearly allowance of Euro 700.000,- from all the happy Dutch tax-payers!

Ok then .. i should get back to work now to pay a bit of my share of her allowance ..

Just a small post from me at work during lunchbreak! At the moment i am hired as a manager at KPN Telecom, its the main telecom operator here in the Netherlands. They offer fixed & mobile telephony, internet access and since a few months also digital TV. This is a new hype here in Europe: most internet, media and telecom companies want to focus on what is called a 'Triple Play' strategy: Telephony, Internet, TV.

KPN has asked me to help out managing the relationship and contracts with IT suppliers during an internal transformation towards a new corporate IT deparment, and ofcourse i'm always eager to help (especially when they pay me per hour )

I have a nice view here; check it out:

However, i'm always working hard so no time to look outside ofcourse My job changes every few months so for work the only thing i need is a car, mobile phone, laptop, a desk and a chair:

The drive here and back home takes about 2 hours a day (120km), so its quite ok considering the Dutch traffic jams! So, usually i am back in time to pick up Ira from work.

More next time ...

We had a lazy weekend..... Saturday is Queen's day here in The Netherlands... everyone is out on the street, garage sale everywhere, city was full with all people.... Last year we went to the centre to look around and we hardly can walked normally... too many people, too many stuffs. So this year we decided to do it quietly... we just do nothing...

We woke up late, took shower, Dim made pancakes for breakfast. After that we went to park behind the house to play ball with Milo.... the rest of the day we just stay home... wachted semifinal of World Championship Snooker in Euro sport.

Sunday, I did some chat with Paula... long time since I seaw her online. She just back from Jakarta for holiday... we catching up with all new gossips and everything.
To my surprise, I got message from an old chatting friend. We haven't chat for like ages..... I think since I moved to Netherlands.... Anyway, she is going to move to Netherlands too.... so we can catch up for more...
