Raiders of the Lost Arts: Serie 1: The Birdman
This will be my first posting from series of pictures of "what so called" art in Netherlands. There are hundreds of them, found in the corner of big street or in pond or just stand alone in the side of the highway. Some are beautiful, some are weird, some are inspiring, some are understandable, some are make you think "what the heck is that?"
 My first RotLA (Raiders of the Lost Arts) is the statue that can be found on the corner of Briljantlaan and Vondellaan, Utrecht, in front of the police office. I passed it almost everyday on the way to the station.
Since the first time I lay my eyes on him, I keep wondering about him. He is a naked man with feathers all over his body, well at least that's what I think. For convenience I always called him Birdman.
What is he actually? Is he supposedly a guardian?  that's why he stand in front of the police office.... kind of "to protect and serve" thing? In that case why is he naked... and what is the deal with the feathers all over.... still a mystery to me....
I tried to find out the name of the artist who made him but result is zip. Nothing on google too... anyone can enlighted me?

aku juga sering gak mudeng sama kunst ... kapan itu di centrum horst juga digantung macem2 kaleng kayak sampah gitu dibentuk pohon. aku gak baca penjelasan-nya apa ... paleng juga kunst yang tak kumengerti hihihi!

patung disini aneh2 kok. di wage jg ada patung 4 mei itu lo. kata orang2 wage, kayak penisnya prins bernhard. wong wage kecewa pol. karena model peluru gitu. pesan pembebasan 4 mei dr jerman oleh allied (blanda gak isok mbebasno negerinay dewek) ditampilkan ama model bom/peluru gitu. ndak nyambung ya.

Memang aneh2 kunst di sini. Di polder di pinggir jalan ada tangga gede melengkung gitu, aku heran, kok cuma tangga aja gak ada bangunannya? eh ternyata itu kunst ya.. hihi..
